Provided executive coaching and strategic direction setting assistance to ownership. Functioned as CFO, developing and guiding the Finance function (including forecast, budget, tax, payroll, treasury) Identified and analyzed periodic financial performance trends, profit margins of the Company and brought analyzed data with understanding to senior management for decision-making. Assisted in providing an optimum mix of shareholder reward, retained earnings, reinvestment, inventory levels and profit sharing. Managed Human Resources function, developing, implementing, integrating and managing all HR programs including compensation / benefits strategies, recruiting and hiring practices, performance appraisal, training, organizational development, and career counseling. Wrote the Employee Handbook, and trained and counselled midlevel managers in best practices. Oversaw the payroll and benefits function and related reporting including health and dental insurance plans, section 125 plan, disability life insurance and retirement savings plans. Also managed all legal, insurance, and facilities functions. Assisted this this startup to grow from less than $10MM and 25 staff to $50MM in annual sales and more than 100 team members in six years.

Tapped to help a $4MM company suffering from a 66% sales drop and large seasonal swings in sales with no reserve capital. Analyzed financial statements, formed a turnaround strategy, then aggressively reduced head-count and cut other costs while establishing financial controls. Raised funds with a cash-out refinance of the commercial property. Won the unequalled trust of ownership, took over marketing functions after six months, held operations intact as senior management left for other opportunities, helped ownership a “soft landing” through a viable exit strategy.

A specialty automotive facility | Sterling Heights, MI

Scrutinized and documented the business processes of this show and prototype vehicle storage and maintenance facility that also manages the booking and transportation of vehicles to public events. Provided detailed mapping and analysis of all business processes in order to uncover suboptimization and to prepare for a transfer of ownership. Proposed detailed recommendations for procedural changes designed to tighten controls and improve efficiencies throughout the organization. Wrote an exhaustive Standard Operating Procedures Manual to leverage the assignment to give the organization daily reuse of the knowledge gained during the investigative process and increased value to client.

Defined the problems facing the company and detailed a proposed business model designed to capitalize on the company’s strengths, bolster its weaknesses, and define approaches to new markets.
